Shea Butter: The Anti-Aging Powerhouse

Wrinkles, fine lines, and pigmentation usually start to appear after the age of 30-35. One of the biggest factors when it comes to aging skin is when it gets dry and dehydrated. Skin that is not properly moisturized doesn’t bounce back as quickly, and develops lines and wrinkles over time.

Shea butter is an anti-aging powerhouse. It is made up of a fatty acid profile similar to that of your skin, so the hydration is able to penetrate the skin more deeply. Shea butter can be used both day and night without making the skin look greasy.

Here are some of the ways Shea butter can help prevent or reduce visible signs of aging:

Moisturizes the Dry Skin

Shea Butter, as the name implies, has a buttery and rich consistency that turns your cracked and dry skin into a smooth, supple and nourished skin. Wrinkles and fine lines tend to seem to be more obvious when your skin is not properly nourished. The fatty acids and other nutrients in shea butter can both moisturize the skin, and also form a moisture barrier to lock in that moisture all day long.

Protects from Sun Exposure

Skin damage due to the exposure to sunlight is one of the major causes of signs of early aging. Shea Butter is a versatile ingredient that can shield on your skin from harmful UV rays and prevent further damage from the sun.

Protection from Pollutants

Another common reason for visibly dull and wrinkled skin are the pollutants and free radicals that are present in the environment. Shea butter contains antioxidants that can fight of free radicals, and its consistency can help form a physical barrier to protect against pollutants.
Reduces the Look of Wrinkles

Shea Butter not only prevents skin aging from happening, but it also can boost collagen production to lessens the appearance of the already existing wrinkles and fine lines. It is safe enough to use in sensitive areas of your face, like around your eyes, yet powerful enough to be effective. In just a few minutes, you can whip up a batch of cooling and hydrating under eye cream.
