In the winter, the harsh weather can lead a lot of us to have dry skin, even though we might not normally be that dry. Taking care of dry skin doesn’t have to have a lengthy process that requires a ton of products. Here are a few of our favorite simple tips to keep your dry winter skin under control.

 

Use a Humidifier

 In the winter, the air is usually super dry, and that includes the air inside your home. Having the heater on inside can dry out the air even more, but a warm home is a necessity. So, to combat the dryness, a great idea is to bring a humidifier into your home.Supplementing the moisture in the air will help keep your skin hydrated.

 

Drink Water

 When it’s cold, a lot of us forget to drink as much water as we do in the summer. However, our skin still needs the hydration. Try to make sure to get at least eight glasses of water each day.

 

Wash with Cold Water

 It can be so tempting to to want to shower or wash your face in hot, steamy water during the cold months, but the hot water might actually be making your skin drier. Instead, try to wash use lukewarm or cold water if you can stand it.

 

Exfoliate Regularly

 Exfoliating with a body scrub is a great way to remove all of the built-up dead skin. By exfoliating the dead skin on your face and body, you reveal new, glowing skin underneath. You can very easily make your own body scrub with just a few ingredients.

 

Moisturize Damp Skin

 After you exfoliate, it is import to follow it up with a good moisturizer. Applying a rich moisturizer like Shea butter onto damp skin after you get out of the shower is one the best ways to really lock in moisture.
